ELS is hiring for the position of Business Development Manager in Lansing, Michigan.

Position

The Business Development Manager is a senior sales role that oversees the business development activities of multiple business units. Working in collaboration with the Chief Business Development officer, the Business Development Manager ensures the achievement of planned revenue objectives as well as identifies and cultivates new business opportunities for continued growth. In addition to providing ongoing coaching, mentoring and direction to a small business development team, this position functions as a subject matter expert on the organization’s products and services and directly manages key account and prospect relationships including a personal book of business.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversees the day-to-day activities of the business development team including prospecting, appointment scheduling, sales presentations, follow-up, order fulfillment and overall account service.
  • Provides ongoing coaching, mentoring and direction to business development team members to facilitate the achievement of individual and business unit goals.
  • Develops strategies and tactical plans to identify and qualify potential opportunities, win new business and achieve revenue objectives.
  • Initiates and maintains key relationships with clients and prospects through extensive phone, video conference and e-mail contact.
  • Prepares and reviews proposals, presentations, quotations and pricing.
  • Tracks overall sales performance and reports on key metrics and business intelligence to executive management and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with the marketing team on lead generation, marketing campaigns and deliverables to foster the professionalism and productivity of the marketing team.
  • Ensures the quality work, integrity and professionalism of the business development team.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert on MHVillage/Datacomp products and services including MHVillage.com and the MHVillage advertising network, the MHInsider trade magazine and professional advertising channels, and Datacomp valuation services and market data.
  • Manages new and existing accounts with high levels of customer service, including timely and accurate fulfillment of orders for purchases and the recommendation of complementary products and services.
  • Coordinates with the appropriate departments to gain relevant information, resolve or escalate customer concerns, fulfill orders and provide product support.
  • Attends industry events and conferences to maintain relationships with existing customers and identify new business opportunities (subject to travel restrictions and applicable public health guidelines)
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years account service or business-to-business sales experience.
  • Experience managing and directing a sales team.
  • Media sales or creative services background preferred.
  • Proven personal sales ability.
  • Self-starter, can recognize, qualify and pursue business opportunities.
  • Strong computer proficiency including experience with Google G Suite, Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, order processing and CRM software.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Flexibility and willingness to pitch in as necessary.
  • Superior communication skills in person, on the phone and in written communications.
  • Dependable, enthusiastic.
  • Availability to travel to industry conferences and events approximately 6-10 times annually for periods of 3-5 days (subject to travel restrictions and public health guidelines).
