The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the development and implementation of high quality, comprehensive medical nutrition therapy care for the patient population. Carries out the departmental plan for the provision of patient care utilizing a mix of clinical and organizational skills within a multi-disciplinary framework. The successful candidate will possess excellent assessment, education, documentation, counseling and communication skills. Functions as a resource of nutritional expertise to all clinical levels within the organization including physicians, nursing, nutritional services staff and in-service education. Central to the performance improvement program both within the department and in the multi-disciplinary area. Responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements in the areas of patient care and nutritional services. Manages medical nutrition therapy for inpatients and evaluates effectiveness of treatments.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Registration

Bachelor Degree Required in Nutrition or Related field

Master Degree Preferred

Registered Dietitian Required

BLS-HCP Required

CDE or CNSC Desired

Experience / Knowledge / Skills

Recent experience in an acute health care setting is preferred.
Experience in public speaking, staff development and regulatory requirements is helpful.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Knowledge in sub-specialty areas of nutrition is desirable. Requires a working knowledge of Title 22, The Joint Commission, and Health and Safety Codes.

Special Requirements

Comprehensive verbal and written communication skills.
The successful candidate will be self-directed and have the ability to work independently.
The incumbent should be comfortable with physician interaction at the individual and committee levels.
Computer skills in word processing required; Power Point presentation skills a plus.
