Job Description
Turner & Townsend are seeking an experienced Construction Project Accountant to work with our Phoenix, Arizona area team alongside a key, well-known high-tech and manufacturing client on large-scale complex projects. The Project Accountant will be responsible for setting up, monitoring and appraising the financial performance of projects in accordance with standardized project management processes and best practices.
Job Objectives:
Ensure transparent and consistent adherence to local financial accounting laws and principles including tax and duties issues.
Develop, implement and update Project Accounting Plans.
Manage the interface to affiliates finance - respectively procurement department.
Agree on systems and requirements with local finance department and set up the work breakdown structure using local accounting system coding.
Establish contact with the Local Accounting Director and secure the secondment of one of the Affiliate’s Accountants to the project team.
Implement the project financial accounting procedures and systems, financial accounting training and (kick-off) workshops for the project management team and / or contractor.
Define roles and responsibility, process and cost coding with local departments with placing purchase orders and execute invoicing.
Provide actual cost data from accounting system.
Ensure actual data figures in Local Accounting System are project related and coded accurately
Reconcile cost data of project cost ledger(s) and accounting system(s).
Administer (sub-) contracts and purchase orders including associated insurance policies, bank guarantees and project assets.
Administer change order, mobilization and (pre-) authorization logs.
Support local finance department in financial project close-out.
Assist to prepare Project Completion report.
Execute the Project Controls Process on Major Capital Projects as per Engineering Manual.
Ensure that the Project Financial Accounting Process is carried out in accordance with the Project Financial Accounting Procedure and the Project Financial Accounting Plan.
Adhere to and enforce policies and procedures especially relating to ethics and financial stewardship.
Ensure transparent and consistent adherence to local financial accounting laws and principle including tax and duties issues.
Co-ordinate, lead/supervise and monitor the Project Controls activities of Contractors and other involved parties.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Construction Management or Engineering.
Professional experience in project management or controlling.
Construction experience is required.
Experience with financial management software.
Strong people management skills. Stakeholder management is key in this role.
Motivating team player, drive results, good communication skills.
Problem-solving and analytical skills.
Self-starter which requires minimal supervision.
Able to apply governance, maintain quality and rigid QA/QC.
