Title: Endocrinology Dietitian Shift: Day Hours: 7am to 5pm Department: Pediatric Endocrinology Location: Barbara Jordan, Davis Lane, and possibly Round Rock What You Will Do
Consults with physician and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patients.
Develops and implements a treatment plan in accordance with Network and dietary field guidelines.
Provides individual and group counseling on the control of diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension, obesity and other diagnoses.
Suggests appropriate behavior modification methods for control and alternation of eating habits.
Formulates menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical condition of patients, and integrates patient's menus with basic institutional menus.
Instructs clients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation.
Serves as a resource and educator for health care providers and staff.
Develops policies for food service or nutritional programs to assist in health promotion and disease control.
Monitors food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety, sanitation and quality standards.
Performs other related duties and activities as required.
Provide medical nutrition therapy and evaluates effectiveness of treatments.
Assess patients for nutritional status. Provide interventions/treatments including diet therapy, counseling or specialized nutrition supplements.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing and ancillary services such as speech pathology or physical therapy.
Monitor tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimen and recommend therapy adjustments as necessary. Provide medical nutrition therapy and evaluate effectiveness of treatments.
Provide nutrition information for the community that may include public speaking, news releases and other forms of publications.
Research and take initiatives to resolve nutrition care related complaints and problems.
Assist in monitoring meals including intake, diet compliance and tray accuracy. Maintain sanitation of food preparation area(s) through planned and unannounced inspections.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.
