Volvo Group North America Design is seeking an Industrial Designer to join their team in Greensboro, NC.

What You Will be Doing

As an Industrial Designer, you will be responsible for:

  • Proposing and developing design solutions with clear product message and distinct brand identity that meets the project prerequisites.
  • Researching and analyzing input from users, costumers and other related sources (e.g. competitive set, automotive, technology trends, color & materials, culture, human behavior, etc.)
  • Exploring ideas for product message and create 2D and 3D product design concepts.
  • Participating in cross functional teams as expert on user centric design, product design and brand identity.
  • Developing attractive and functional design solutions and communicate through sketches, renderings, illustrations and CAD models. (e.g. Exterior and interior)
  • Developing presentation and decision material.
  • Securing the correct visual quality of the output from the product design process.
  • Leading physical modelers and design surface modeling team in the development of clay and CAD models, secure appropriate aesthetic harmony, visual quality and technical Input.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design
  • 3+ years of Automotive or Product design experience
  • Automotive/transport experience, preferred
  • Proficiency in 3D Alias and 3D rendering software, e.g. Keyshot, VRED, Adobe Design package, and other industry leading visualization tools
  • Excellent 2D sketch presentation and visual communication skills
  • Understanding of brand design strategies
  • Proven aesthetic and visual and ideation skills
  • Understanding of ergonomics and cognitive HMI
  • Market and competitor understanding
  • Problem-solving, generate and evaluate alternative solutions
  • Creativity, develop insights into new ideas and innovative solutions
  • Flexibility, open to change, and adapts to new information
