Reporting to the Chief Analytics & Data Officer, the IT Analytics Program Director is responsible for facilitating the implementation of Data and Analytics Services projects according to business objectives. The role works in partnership with other key IT leaders to ensure the delivery of key institutional projects as well as maintaining the organization’s core data and analytics services. Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining communication tools for executive leadership that demonstrate how Data and Analytics Services operational and strategic work aligns with business objectives, monitoring the portfolio of Data and Analytics Services programs and projects, and supporting the Chief Data Officer as needed.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include initial assessment of scope, effort and resources, writing project charters, facilitating project initiation meetings, detailed project planning, managing execution of project tasks, monitoring progress and timelines, and project status and other communication
Develop and maintain Data and Analytics Services operational and strategic programs.
Develop communication tools (e.g., product roadmaps, dashboards, etc.) for executive leadership that demonstrate how Data and Analytics Services align with Tufts Medicine operational and strategic objectives.
Assist in Data and Analytics budget tracking, including purchase requisitions, vendor quotations, and approval signatures for funding approval and purchase orders
Participate in the development of innovative technology tools and services with an eye for “productization” and potential commercial use outside of Tufts Medicine.
Assist Data and Analytics Services managers with the preparation of project plans and schedules, and may interact with outside vendors.
Attend Data and Analytics Services status meetings as necessary and monitor Data and Analytics Services project schedules on a weekly basis
Responsible for the oversight of the Data and Analytics Services team of managers in terms of work assignment, timely completion of work, and utilization of project team members to accomplish customer expectations
Motivate and monitor a team of analysts and specialists with varying levels of expertise
Supervise consultants, contractors, or other vendors related to the execution of project tasks
Responsible for the principal leadership of the project team in terms of work assignment, timely completion of work, and utilization of project team members to accomplish customer expectations
Develop strong and positive rapport with key users and stakeholders based on project assignments
Responsible for facilitating the implementation of Information Services projects according to business objectives
Manage resources to ensure successful completion of project deliverables
Lead project status meetings and update project schedule on a weekly basis
Manage project issues, assumptions and risks
Anticipate, estimate, and manage project costs
Prepare project plans and schedules, and may interact with outside vendors; Write documentation that may include project status reports, technical requirements and specifications, and testing, training and go-live plans
May participate in troubleshooting project or technological conflicts and disruptions
Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science required, Healthcare Management, or other related field; Master’s preferred
Project management certification (PMP or equivalent) preferred
A balance of the technical skills required to design and write reports, and the operational knowledge to understand what report the end user needs to see
10 years of related data analytics and/or healthcare information services experience, or 6-8 years with graduate degree
Demonstrated able to lead small to medium sized project teams
Proven track record as a successful program director, program manager, or project manager
A deep understanding of system build, end user workflows, and patterns of use
Experience using Microsoft Project or other project scheduling application
Knowledge of hospital information systems
Knowledge of project management methodology
Strong administrative project management skills (maintaining project schedule, status reports, budget, compliance with project management methodology)
