Role Summary:
The IT Support Specialist ensures a reliable, secure and robust network, domain and computer infrastructure. This position will primarily work from our Southfield, MI location and will also support operations in Ann Arbor, MI and Chicago, IL, which will require occasional travel. This position will report to our Network Administrator.
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoots day-to-day issues such as wireless issues, video conferencing, setting up new workstations and system access for new hires.
Provides help desk end-user support to employees, which includes interacting directly with employees to get to the root of their problem and providing ongoing feedback until the problem is resolved.
Identifies appropriate hardware and software solutions.
Installs and configures hardware and software.
Provides recommendations to the Network Administrator on the firms' technology strategy.
Creates and conducts training for employees on company platforms.
Implements projects developed and managed by the Network Administrator.
Partners with vendors, as needed, to maintain company architecture in the cloud and network security in a multi-location environment.
Monitors equipment and provides recommendations as to the life-cycle to keep the company hardware up to date, secure and highly competitive.
Owns the hardware and software asset inventory documentation and provide recommendations on software, printer, computer and other hardware needs for the firm.
Manages an organized server room and networking rack in all company locations.
Manages infrastructure and server software for administration of domain assets.
Manages technology needs related to office moves, remodels, and acquisitions.
Keeps abreast of any cybersecurity threats and proactively provides recommendations to Network Administrator to ensure a secure environment.
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in IT Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, Finance or related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training, is required.
Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems.
Strong computer skills, including advanced level in Microsoft Office Suite with ability to translate the functionality to a novice user.
Knowledge in physical installation and troubleshooting of hardware and software.
Knowledge in Citrix.
Candidate must be a highly organized, responsive, reliable, pro-active and a self-starter requiring minimum supervision.
Candidate must possess excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communications skills, capable of providing technology briefings to manager as needed.
