POSITION SUMMARY
The Legal Assistant facilitates the efficient operation of the assigned department by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks.
POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conduct all aspects of garnishment actions: employment verifications, garnishment paperwork generation, e-filling, answers, credit reporting, compliance, disputes, and objections
- Complete documents, applications, and forms with high degree accuracy
- Manage deadlines, tasks, and calendars to ensure adherence to schedule for legal or court proceedings
- Handle follow-up tasks and inquiries by phone and e-mail
- Develop systems and procedures to improve efficiencies for this role and across the legal department
- Advise and assist Account Managers and administrative personnel with inquiries and issues related to customer accounts
- Detail-oriented and comfortable with handling multiple projects simultaneously Assists with typing, scanning and revising documents
- Assists with saving and profiling pleadings and other documents
- Assists with creating and organizing mailings and file organization
- Provides on-site support, including mailing, copying, and printing
- Operates office equipment including PCs, printers, phones, and other equipment
- Conducts all business in a confidential manner
- Performs other related duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education - High school diploma/GED required
Required Skills/Abilities: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other related software
Experience: - Previous experience as a paralegal or legal assistant with working knowledge of the legal process and Wisconsin’s e-filing system
- Background in collections or bankruptcies preferred
- Credit Bureau reporting experience highly preferred
- Working experience with MS Office; computer software and internet proficiency required
- Ability to work independently or with a team
