Responsible for providing professional legal coordination and support of overall business operations relating to open records management and administrative duties for the Office of the City Attorney.
Essential Job Functions
Primarily processes, tracks, coordinates, and responds to public information and similar requests received by the City and routed through the Office of the City Attorney when legal issues arise or are suspected.
Assist all departments to develop an overall Open Records Requests strategy; as well as manage the ORR database; and act as an open records’ liaison with the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
Respond to complex internal and citizen-initiated inquiries through answering telephone calls, written correspondence, e-mails or face-to-face communication and direct calls and inquiries to appropriate personnel.
Review support or subordinate work performance for quality and accuracy.
Create, prepare and maintain office files, including filing and updating online and other folders for cross-referencing and indexing.
Implement plans and schedules to determine appropriate focus on objectives needing emphasis.
Troubleshoot and resolve departmental issues to ensure support services meet goals.
Minimum Education & Work Experience
4 year College degree required (business related degree preferred) 6 years related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience, especially within the parameters of the preferred qualifications sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills
Education/ Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or legal related fields 6 years administrative experience or background in legal office administration Working knowledge of the Texas Public Information Act or related laws

General knowledge of legal office practices and procedures Excellent skills in PC and systems operations, particularly Outlook, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and OnBase Excellent interoffice service and telephone etiquette skills Excellent organizational skills General knowledge of the operation of state and local government Excellent oral and written communications skills Ability to multitask Ability to adapt to various working conditions and proactively addresses upcoming or potential issues Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision Ability to work under tight, legally-mandated deadlines

Valid Class C Texas driver's license
