Job Description

The Manager of Information Technology Engineering is responsible for providing the vision and leadership to develop maintain and enhance infrastructure and align it with business strategies imperatives and core values. This position has both strategic and functional management responsibility for Infrastructure technologies at HCH. This position is responsible for the overall design, operation, support, reliability, continuity, recovery, and security of the Open Systems environments, Middleware, and DevOps/Automation/Orchestration.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategy - Responsible for strategy development deployment and support of IT Engineering infrastructure systems to meet the needs of Business Units and future IT needs. Works to improve processes with a focus on efficiency and quality improvements. Partners with Executive Leadership to develop and define the technology strategy. 20%
  • Leadership - Responsible for providing a leadership role in Engineering projects undertaken to accomplish company infrastructure objectives. This includes involvement in the planning and implementation of short and longer term projects. Ensures Engineering projects are implemented in a manner consistent with industry best practices. 20%
  • Server Administration - Responsible for all aspects of administering the Open Systems, virtualization, and Middleware across both HC and Valassis. Strong understanding of DevOps, open source technologies, automation, and orchestration processes and tooling. Broad knowledge and success track record of maintaining/supporting server environments. 20%
  • Security & Compliance - Accountable for the implementation and review of Security for the Engineering Infrastructure teams based on policies standards and procedures set forth by HCHC Corporate Security group. This includes meeting Internal Audit requirements Industry required Compliance and other Certifications as needed. For example: PCI SOX SAS70 CyberTrust etc. This also involves business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing. 20%
  • General Management - Manage third party vendors, partners and/or suppliers who provide services to HC and Valassis. Develop, track, and maintain annual IT staffing, purchasing and operations, and capital budgets. Enforce the use of established and documented IT processes tools and best practices. Develop and implement effective resource capacity planning and demand management. Also performs staff reviews and evaluations as needed. 10%
  • Service Delivery Management - Ensure all critical systems operate efficiently safely and in accordance with defined SLAs. Ensure development and administration of policies procedures and guidelines to assure production systems availability which meets or exceeds established Service Level Agreements. Familiarity with ITIL based management methodologies is required. 10%
Qualifications

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Business or Engineering or equivalent work experience required. Person must have excellent knowledge of IT operations and infrastructure processes.
EXPERIENCE
  • 8 years of progressively increasing responsibility in an IT Infrastructure capacity
  • 5+ years of experience in IT management
  • Strong analytical problem-solving & conceptual skills
  • Effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology
  • Solid teamwork & interpersonal skills with ability to communicate & persuade customers & management at all levels
  • Ability to create original concepts
  • Excellent oral & written communications; strong management business planning & development skills
  • 10 years IT & business experience in strategic planning development & implementation
COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS
  • Must be skillful at communications at all levels specifically to Senior Leadership key clients and suppliers and with all Processes and Divisions within the company.
DECISION MAKING
  • Must align project plans and deliverables to achieve financial benefits and desired outcomes.
OTHER
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage 6-12 direct management reports. Responsible for implementing employee developmental activities like performance review team building career planning and succession planning.
