Job Description

Preauthorization and Insurance Billing Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Minimum of two years experience in hospital billing/pre-authorization or insurance verification with demonstrated knowledge of health insurance plans including: Medicare, Medicaid, HMO's and PPO's required.
  • College degree preferred but not necessary can be substituted with on-point experience.
  • Serve as principal contact for laboratory and/or department staff regarding prior authorization process/requirement for services to be rendered.
  • Interacts with Insurer and Third-Party payor case managers to explain the clinical justification for all Eurofins testing being ordered by our clients.
  • Facilitates submission of clean claims and reduction in payer denials by adhering to both organizational and departmental policies and procedures and maintaining departmental productivity and quality goals.
  • Appropriately prioritizes workload to ensure the most urgent cases are handled in a timely manner. Completes accurate documentation in both the Auth/Cert and Referral Shells.
  • Handles the verification of insurance benefits for customers.
  • Notifies customers of deductibles and co-insurance due.
  • Contacts primary care physicians for information needed to submit preauthorization.
  • Regularly calls insurance companies to follow up on outstanding preauthorization and statuses.
  • Explores other payment options with customer when needed.
  • Keeps sensitive customer and company information confidential, particularly PHI.
Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate would possess:
  • Experience in managed care contracting related field or comparable in the diagnostic market
  • Detail orientation
  • Excellent communication skills in stressful circumstances (emotional patients for example)
  • Independent judgment in extending patient assistance programs for those defined under the Federal Poverty Guidelines in strict accordance with the Eurofins Patient Financial Assistance Policy set by the Eurofins Clinical Diagnostics Compliance and Billing Departments
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in hospital billing/pre-authorization or insurance verification with demonstrated knowledge of health insurance plans including: Medicare, Medicaid, HMO's and PPO's required.
  • College degree preferred but not necessary can be substituted with on-point experience.

  • Prefer experience in managed care contracting related field or comparable in the diagnostic market
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Position is full-time, fully remote, Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Candidates must be located near Lenexa, KS.
