Sophos is looking for a talented Software Engineer with a focus on DevSecOps to join its platform engineering team for the Sophos Factory product. In this role, you will be building and operating the Sophos Factory infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and related codebase elements. Strong programming skills are required, including fluency in multiple general-purpose languages, declarative DSLs, and familiarity with algorithms and data structures.
As our ideal candidate, you will already be familiar with multiple infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools. You will have had experience utilizing these skills to deploy and operate production web application systems.
This position provides an amazing opportunity to leverage and hone your DevSecOps engineering skills and work with a team of senior-level software engineers. Sophos Factory is continuously tested and deployed using modern DevOps principles, including automated testing, quality assurance, security checks, and infrastructure deployment.
What You Will Do
Design and deploy cloud infrastructure in support of Kubernetes-based web applications on AWS using Terraform and Helm
Operate Kubernetes clusters including configuration, upgrades, access control, application deployment, monitoring, etc.
Design and implement DevSecOps automation pipelines for testing and deploying web applications, binary releases, cloud infrastructure, and open-source software.
Monitor running production systems, respond to operational events, and scale infrastructure to support new users and features.
Orchestrate software releases, including planning for downtime and communicating with end users about upcoming changes.
Build and maintain quality assurance test suites using Cypress, Mocha, and other automated testing tools.
Work closely with other software engineers on the team, providing design feedback, opening issues, and making feature requests.
Develop written technical product documentation and documentation of DevOps pipelines and infrastructure.
What You Will Bring
5+ years' experience or equivalent proficiency in software engineering, site reliability engineering, or other IT automation categories
Proficiency in computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms; Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or similar technical discipline, or equivalent foundational knowledge
Experience with web technologies including HTTP and TCP/IP network stacks
Ability to lead new DevSecOps initiatives from inception to completion
Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with a senior-level team
Experience working with:
Public cloud APIs and public cloud templating systems such as AWS Cloud Formation, Azure Resource Manager, and Google Cloud Deployment Manager
Tools including Hashicorp Terraform and Helm Experience
Configuration management systems such as Red Hat Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SaltStack, PowerShell DSC, etc.
Automated security and policy tools, such as Open SCAP, CIS-CAT Pro, Open Policy Agent, Inspec, etc.
Containerized solution delivery, e.g., with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenShift, etc.
