What you’ll be doing:

The Software Engineer III creates or modifies complex programs, modules, routines, scripts and data objects from a detailed design where performance, efficiency, and reliability are critical to the entire system. They understand interactions and interfaces in the systems they support, and have a broad knowledge of multiple business processes.
They are skilled and experienced in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle. Are involved in application development, meeting with their users to determine needs and mentoring more junior associates.
Writes code that meets specifications, typically for large and highly complex software programs and systems. Develops software applications and tools. Participates in software design. Anticipates and prevents problems and roadblocks before they occur. Is developing design skills. Has a comprehensive understanding of the organization's current software applications and tools.

What you bring to the table:

  • Create or modify complex programs, modules, routines, scripts and data objects. Develop knowledge of Staples business processes and system environment.
  • Participate in design, test, implementation and maintenance of technical upgrades. Monitor the use and performance of systems and equipment.
  • Develop application documentation.Identify, isolate and resolve malfunctions related to software.Consult with technical staff and users on technical issues relating to systems.
  • Maintain compliance with technical standards, policies and procedures.
  • Perform coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.
  • Analyze, test, monitor, and improve the performance, scalability, and functionality of software. Conduct requirement analysis, document technical specifications, and write and review code.
  • Has knowledge of state-of-the art programming languages and uses object-oriented approaches to build scalable, stable and secure frameworks, platforms, or applications that meet business requirements and integrate with existing software.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, Information systems, or a directly related field plus 7+ years of executing large web applications.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in React.js, Redux
  • Experience with Next.js
  • Experience with CSS pre-processing and optimization, Webpack, Babel for component library bundling
  • Experience developing applications in web technologies HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, SASS/LESS, JavaScript, Redux, JQuery, JSON, Ajax, Bootstrap
  • Extensive experience in handling cross browser issues
  • Experience with Git and an understanding of CI/CD
  • Experience with a Version Control system (Git, Subversion)
  • Experience writing unit tests (e.g., Jest,)
  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with forms and complex form validation is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience applying UI/UX best practices and standards
  • Experience with ExpressJs, a web application framework for Node.js.
