EdPlus at ASU is seeking a motivated Web Application Developer, experienced in building cloud native applications to join our high-performing software engineering team. Primary responsibility will be to design and develop microservice architectures and associated middleware integration layers that broker communication between client facing applications and back-end systems on an educational platform serving a unique population of 20,000+ learners. The platform has a modern serverless, event-driven architecture and integrates with Customer relationship management (CRM), Student Information Systems (SIS), and Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support high quality technology services.
  • Assist the team prepare project requirements, design specifications, documentation, and test plans.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on coding, source control management, technical reviews, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop continuous integration and deployment pipelines to cloud based environments.
  • Optimize applications and delivery platforms for scale, speed, and accessibility.
  • Work closely with the design, analytics, quality assurance, operations, customer support, security and project management teams at edplus and asu.
  • Maintain technical currency and take advantage of professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in relevant technical communities at asu and beyond.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.


  • Demonstrated knowledge of restful web services, api design, microservice architecture, http protocol, javascript, json and nodejs.
  • Experience with building decoupled, secure, resilient, serverless applications using cloud native technologies (aws preferred - e. G. Api gateway, lambda, cognito, aws eventbridge, serverless framework).
  • Experience with database transactional processing, data persistence and caching (e. G. Sql, redis, s3).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federated authentication and authorization models including cloud security and access policies. Knowledge of jwt and oauth2/oidc is desirable.
  • Experienced in devops processes including building, testing and deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud methodologies including automation, orchestration and related tooling.
  • Experience with agile/iterative software development lifecycle, including version control, issue and project tracking.
  • Experience with integrating applications with the salesforce crm and canvas lms, including knowledge of their api stack will be beneficial.
  • Evidence of self-motivation to work in a dynamic environment that requires systematic, independent problem solving.
  • Evidence of a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
